Cardiac Rehab, It’s a no brainer!

Cardiac rehab is widely recognised to improve prognosis and function for people after a cardiac event. Evidence suggests that when cardiac rehab is provided by accredited practitioners and patients alongside lifestyle modifications it can reduce mortality by as much as 20-25% over a 3 years period. Now that’s got to be worth giving a go!

“If there was a pill that cost very little, reduced cardiac deaths by 27%, improved quality of life and reduced anxiety and depression, every patient in Europe would be expected to take it!”

Phase 4 cardiac rehab is designed to offer you somewhere to exercise in order to maintain and improve your fitness after a heart problem. Continued exercise coupled with a healthy lifestyle is the best way to help prevent a further cardiac event. It will also make you feel good!

Exercise programmes are run by specialists holding the British Association for Cardiovascular Prevention and Rehabilitation (BACPR) qualification. This means they take your specific circumstances and medication into account, and ensure your exercise provision is safe and effective.

Phase 4 Exercise offers many benefits, briefly these include:

  • Improvement in cardiovascular health and efficiency
  • Reduction in blood pressure
  • Help to manage blood cholesterol
  • Maintain a healthy weight
  • Muscular strength and endurance
  • Flexibility
  • Improved mood
  • Lower anxiety and depression
  • Improved confidence
  • Greater independence

The Cardiacrehab.org website has been set up to offer advice and information about how to get back on the road following a cardiac incident. Due to the nature of cardiac rehab classes, they are often locally run in communal spaces such as church halls, gyms, and meeting places. Unlike standard gyms many of these classes lack the visibility on the web. Cardiac Rehab is the brainchild of BACPR registered Cardiac Rehab Exercise Physiologist Toby Whitehead and digital expert Tim Carr. Our aim is to provide assistance and advice to those looking to improve their prognosis through lifestyle change and exercise. The site will not charge for listings, and is free to access. Any funding received will be made explicit on the website. We invite industry partners.
